On this first day of August, welcome to the second of our summer poetry anthologies for this year. Mark's put together a trio of favorite poems, and matched them to some appropriate musical interludes. This is an obliquely political edition, in that there's a poem for Joe Biden's brain - plus the only opera to spark a revolution, very successfully. But Steyn wraps things up with a virtuoso rendering of Kipling's "Mandalay" - and, for those who seek lower pleasures, there is a sixteenth-century flatulence joke.
