Making Plans for Nigel

If you enjoy our Q&A sessions, well, we also do them live at sea on the Mark Steyn Cruise. If you've got a headscratcher you'd like to pose to Mark or Eva or Mister Snerdley or the rest of his guests (see cruise promo at right), we hope to see you on board.

But, if you missed today's Clubland Q&A live around the planet, here's the action replay. Steyn took questions on a variety of topics from the fourth night of riots by French "yoots" to the refusal of any UK financial system to permit Nigel Farage a bank account. Plus some music for the pitiful remnants of Canada's "national holiday".

~The latest issue of Private Eye, which once used to challenge the Establishment but is now one of its subtler props, covers Steyn's lawsuit against the UK state censor Ofcom. Here is the item in total:

CRANK & STEYN
Bad news for GB News as it attempts to reposition itself: wacko Mark Steyn, lately departed after an Ofcom ruling, plans to challenge Ofcom in court.

Mark isn't "planning" to challenge Commissars Grade and Dawes in court; he has done so: You can read Gavin Millar KC's Statement of Claim asking the High Court of England and Wales to quash Ofcom's ruling. But Ian Hislop (has he got his knighthood yet?) and his minions can't get anything right.

~We're very touched by the many listeners, who've expressed interest in supporting this important free-speech lawsuit against Ofcom's enforcement of the discredited Covid narrative. There are multiple means of doing so, as follows:

a) signing up a friend for a Steyn Club Gift Membership;

b) buying a SteynOnline gift certificate; or

c) ordering Mark's new book.

The state of free speech in the UK is even more parlous than in Canada or Australia. Earlier this week, Mark's former colleague Laurence Fox tweeted:

There is an organisation called @Ofcom

If you haven't heard of it, it exists to regulate what is allowed to be presented to your mind at any time on any channel on British TV.

They killed off @MarkSteynOnline and I believed that there was a way to get by their censorship and control.

But there isn't.

Ultimately THEY decide what you can watch and listen to.

Therefore EVERYTHING you are permitted to watch is adjudicated by them.

I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt and try to be a bit cunning to get by their rules.

But censorship is censorship.

I am finding this position increasingly untenable to defend.

Free speech is paramount.

~As you'll have gathered from his remarks early in the show, Steyn is a bit woozy health-wise, but he managed an hour-and-a-quarter of what we think is well worth a listen. You don't have to be a Mark Steyn Club member to listen to the show, so please click away. But, as always, we thank Steyn Clubbers for many excellent questions. And we will pick up a few of the ones we didn't get to in Mark's Mailbox, back on The Mark Steyn Show.

~Stick with SteynOnline over the weekend for movies with Rick McGinnis, and Steyn's Song of the Week. The Mark Steyn Show returns on Monday - and, just ahead of that, Mark will be live with Megyn Kelly on Sirius XM.
