Bad news for GB News as it attempts to reposition itself: wacko Mark Steyn, lately departed after an Ofcom ruling, plans to challenge Ofcom in court.
Mark isn't "planning" to challenge Commissars Grade and Dawes in court; he has done so: You can read Gavin Millar KC's Statement of Claim asking the High Court of England and Wales to quash Ofcom's ruling. But Ian Hislop (has he got his knighthood yet?) and his minions can't get anything right.
~We're very touched by the many listeners, who've expressed interest in supporting this important free-speech lawsuit against Ofcom's enforcement of the discredited Covid narrative. There are multiple means of doing so, as follows:
a) signing up a friend for a Steyn Club Gift Membership;
b) buying a SteynOnline gift certificate; or
c) ordering Mark's new book.
The state of free speech in the UK is even more parlous than in Canada or Australia. Earlier this week, Mark's former colleague Laurence Fox tweeted:
There is an organisation called @Ofcom
If you haven't heard of it, it exists to regulate what is allowed to be presented to your mind at any time on any channel on British TV.
They killed off @MarkSteynOnline and I believed that there was a way to get by their censorship and control.
But there isn't.
Ultimately THEY decide what you can watch and listen to.
Therefore EVERYTHING you are permitted to watch is adjudicated by them.
I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt and try to be a bit cunning to get by their rules.
But censorship is censorship.
I am finding this position increasingly untenable to defend.
Free speech is paramount.
