Dear Mark,
The war on free speech and words gets worse and worse. From the refusal to aknowledge Islamic terrorism in the US on 9/11 and in the UK to being punished for bringing up mass immigration, the left has gone Orwell on the term "All are Welcome" when it comes to people's views and beliefs in these matters. In other words: All are welcome but some are more welcome than others. Tell me if I'm wrong on this or am I just scratching the surface. Thanks.

A bit off topic: in the flatlands of New Hampshire, the "big" issue this week was the sexual assault and rape charges against newly-acquired Patriots receiver Antonio Brown. As with most things in life, I have no clue what happened. What I do know is that it's amusing to watch members of the media who were so quick to run over Brett Kavanaugh with the #metoo train attempt to delicately pick apart the story from Brown's accuser. What happened to #BelieveAllWomen? My question: are we stupid? Pick a topic, any topic - whenever a sensational story breaks, we run to our phones and keyboards, seemingly in an effort to be incorrect first.
Thank you!

Mark, welcome home. You were spot on with Tucker last night regarding Hillary and her undying lust for relevance. She certainly is waiting for the call to save the Democrats and I'm not sure I blame her. There wasn't a single person on the Democrat debate stage who looked sane, nevermind impressive. I still believe we have yet to hear from whomever the actual candidate will be. It won't be Hillary, and Rush has basically ruled out Mrs. Obama. Any theories on a last minute entry?

Elizabeth Warren proposed increasing social security payments by $200/month and tax "the rich" to pay for it. She stated "It's time Washington stopped trying to slash Social Security benefits for people who've earned them". More brazen lying about the system. Today's system actually subsidizes lower earners who receive more favorable returns than their contributions would dictate, and higher earners see lower returns. Warren's proposal would move social security even closer to a full blown welfare scheme to transfer wealth. All part of Dem's transformation to get more people dependent on government checks, much of it in the form of handouts. Your thoughts? - Drew

All the best.

Hello Mark,
During the Q&A portion of the Climate Apocalypse session on last week's Alaska Cruise, my husband asked what was happening with Dr. William Happer and the Presidential Council on Climate Security (PCCS) he had been tapped to head. Ross McKitrick's answer was that members of the Trump administration had resisted the formation of that Council and they had "chickened out." Well, the efforts of the resistance have paid off — Dr. Happer has resigned, and without the voice of a serious scientific body that the PCCS would have been, the claims of the alarmists will remain unanswered and allowed to spread. We find this development extremely distressing. What is your take on it?

How do thoughts like this come from someone who is ostensibly on the 'right'? Is McCabe the first domino or is he an anomaly?

Back in Los Angeles, home of 60,000 homeless, thousands of rats, typhoid, typhus, bubonic plague and now, possibly leprosy. I wonder if there is a tipping point at which a formerly livable city becomes completely unlivable? That is, I think residents will hang in there for a while, but at some point people will just flee the city, leaving the problems behind. I suspect that it is like what Hemingway said about going bankrupt -- first slowly, then quickly. Is there a way to turn things around before we reach that tipping point? Maybe by reopening the mental institutions?

Hi Mark
Hope you had a great trip! I am curious as to know your thoughts about the Trump administration's recent win in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals with respect to its change to the asylum laws (requiring that anybody seeking asylum in the U.S. must first apply in the first country they come to). The Supreme Court upheld this decision 7-2 a few days ago. So, will the Ninth Circus actually follow the rule of law going forward? Has Trump successfully reshaped this circuit?
One of the reasons I think Trump won in 2016 was due to the list federal judges he would consider for the Supreme Court vacancies if he were elected. I would hope he follows suit in 2020.
P.S. When will Fox News make you a full-time contributor?

Hi Mark!
As we arrive home today, we just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for this year's MS cruise!
From the beautiful Alaska landscape to the daily sessions with your guest speakers... everything was just wonderful. Your entire Steyn at Sea crew (Cindy, Melissa, Andrew, Whit, Rachel...everyone!) worked so hard and were always exceedingly kind and patient with every guest.
Lastly, thank you, Mark, for being such a gracious host and for being so generous with your time. We met so many wonderful people in the group (including you!) and feel so lucky to have been on board. We can't wait for next year's cruise!
P.S. Sorry if I bugged you with all my goofy questions and stories. If I were red haired, you could have just told me to, "bog off you daft ginger". But, alas, I'm blonde, so you'll have to come up with something else for next year's cruise! :)

Loved the cruise. One moment that stood out was the odd harangue given by the Parks Service fellow over the PA system during the Glacier Bay sail prolefeeding us the gospel of Global Warming. The totalitarian flavour of it all was creepy. I wonder how many other passengers felt that way.

Talking about corrupted injustice systems, here in Melbourne we have recently had the case of Australia's senior most Catholic cleric, Cardinal George Pell, having not only been convicted of sexual abuse with an unlikely story, based solely on one person's evidence, but also having his appeal unjustly rejected. Pell has been a figure of much scorn from the Left here in Australia for decades, as he has been a solid conservative on social issues. The media has been stewing in bile for him for all this time, so there was little chance of a fair jury trial. At his appeal, two judges dropped his appeal with very little reason- the dissenting judge gave more reason to allow the appeal than the two judges that dropped it. Victoria's judicial system has been flooded with leftist judges over the past decade, which has seen much lenient sentencing, and an increase in crime as a result. Hopefully Pell's Appeal will be confirmed in the High Court. What is your opinion of the Pell case?
