Greetings from Ketchikan, salmon capital of the world and today's port of call on the Second Annual Mark Steyn Cruise. (The third sails next fall.) Mark and Michele Bachmann will be taking to the stage later today for a live Mark Steyn Show, preceded by a special Tale for Our Time.
Ahead of that, in this brand new SteynPost, Mark considers the latest attempt to discuss the demographic transformation of Europe without getting damned as a racist white supremacist, etc, and the crude arithmetic of the latest UN population statistics. Click below to watch:
SteynPosts and our other video content are made possible through the support of members of The Mark Steyn Club, now in its third year. If you're minded to join us for our autumn season, we'd love to have you: You can find out more details here.
Among the pleasures of membership is that you can enjoy our TV content in any medium you desire: video, audio or text. So, if you'd rather sample the above in non-visual form, please log-in here. We're excited to announce that our entire run of SteynPosts, starting with the very first edition, is now available in audio. You can find all those, plus some of the more memorable editions of The Mark Steyn Show, over in our Audio & Transcripts department.
Mark will be back in audio only this Friday with a brand new Clubland Q&A live around the planet.
~We had a busy weekend at SteynOnline, starting with the latest edition of Mark's Mailbox, in which Steyn answered (occasionally in Greek) a host of questions on Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's delayed trial, the state of stand-up comedy, and a famous supernumerary papilla. On Saturday we marked the death of a monster, and our regular movie date considered a cinematic paean to another. Mark's Sunday song selection explored the now obsolete world of the "answering service" and its musical legacy. Throughout the weekend our audio adaptation of Climate Change: The Facts continued with important insights from Rupert Darwall, Ross McKitrick and Donna Laframboise. And our marquee presentation was the latest in our series of video poetry: with President Trump mulling purchase of a certain slab of Danish territory, Mark read and discussed Greenland by James Montgomery.
As Karyn, a new Mark Steyn Club member from Down Under, put it, explaining her reasons for signing up on Sunday: "It was the poetry! :)" Whether it's the poetry or the climate science, the obituaries or the songs, the Q&As or the movies, we hope you'll want to check out one or three of the foregoing as a new week begins.
If you left it too late for this week's voyage, do give a thought to our Third Annual Steyn Cruise sailing the Med next year and with Conrad Black, Douglas Murray and John O'Sullivan among our shipmates. As usual, we'll be essaying some seaboard versions of The Mark Steyn Show, Tales for Our Time, our Sunday Poem and other favorite features. If you're minded to give it a go, don't leave it to the last minute, as the price is more favorable the earlier you book - and, as they certainly did with our current cruise, the cabins go fast.
