Happy Hanukkah to all our Jewish readers around the world. Our Mark at the Movies department scoured the cinematic archives for a film to mark the occasion, and came up with, gulp, Adam Sandler.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
~The week began with a flash! and a bam! and an alakazam! (for our Song of the Week "Orange Colored Sky") and a damn! and a zounds! and an odd's fish! (for the conclusion of Mark's serialization of The Scarlet Pimpernel) - and a flash! zounds! bam! odd's fish! alakazam! and hasta la vista, muthaf**ker! for the news that serial litigant Cary Katz's CRTV, after losing its ten-million dollar lawsuit against Steyn, has ceased to exist.
~Mark's Monday Notebook considered the death of the English pub, and a Sotheby's auction item with the imprimatur of Steyn: it was our most-read piece of the week. Later Mark joined Tucker Carlson to giggle over Bill and Hillary's floppo stadium tour.
~On Tuesday's brand new video edition of Mark's Mailbox, Steyn answered questions from Mark Steyn Club members around the planet on Saudi SOBs, Rotherham rape, British betrayal, conservative cowardice and other lively topics. Click below to watch:
Mark's Mailbox is made with the support of members of The Mark Steyn Club, for which we are profoundly grateful. For more on the Steyn Club, see below.
~On Wednesday Mark started the day on the curvy couch at "Fox & Friends". Among the subjects up for discussion were the gilets jaunes on the streets of Paris:
~On Thursday Steyn returned to "Tucker Carlson Tonight" to look at new fronts in the war on Christmas:
~On Friday we launched the first of this year's festive Tales for Our Time - Mark's seasonal sampling of a Louisa May Alcott classic, Little Women at Christmas. Click for Part One and Part Two - and don't miss tonight's concluding installment.
Tales for Our Time is made possible thanks to members of The Mark Steyn Club, for which we are very thankful. You can find more details about the Steyn Club here. And don't forget our special Gift Membership, which makes a fine Christmas present, and this festive season comes with a special personalized Christmas card from Mark and a handsomely-engraved gift-boxed presentation of three of our most popular Tales for Our Time for your pal or relative to listen to in the car or perambulating through the wilderness or almost anywhere else. For more on our Christmas Gift Membership, see here.
~Steyn's Weekend Notebook mused on a world where "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is banned but your kid is heading to the nativity play with a blow-up sheep sex-doll from Amazon.
This Christmas season at SteynOnline, in lieu of a blow-up sheep, we have not only a slew of Steynamite Christmas specials and a classic festive CD but a couple of extra-special gift suggestions, such as two on the aisle for the first ever Dennis Miller/Mark Steyn tour, or a stateroom with your loved one's name on it for the second Mark Steyn Club Cruise.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week and the conclusion of Little Women at Christmas.
