Happy Standard Time to our North American readers this Sunday morning. On Tuesday's US Election Day, Mark will be hosting another Clubland Q&A live around the planet, but, with the time change, do please pay close attention to local airtime.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
~The week began with Mark reacting to the synagogue slaughter in Pittsburgh, and then reacting to the reaction - with a side-note on "Florida men" and Sinéad O'Connor's conversion to Islam. It was our most-read piece of the week.
~On Monday's edition of "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Mark and Tucker considered Hillary Clinton's "racist" joke and Lester Holt's whiteface routine.
~On Tuesday Steyn saluted a man of big books and big ideas, Michael Crichton.
~On Wednesday Mark checked in with John Oakley on Toronto's Global News Radio 640 to discuss calls to ban Steve Bannon from the Munk Debate, and the broader issues of populism and globalism. Click below to listen:
Afterwards it was time for SteynOnline's Halloween observances with a bewitching song and a black cat. If you'd prefer a gigantic black insect to cross your path, Mark also wrapped up the latest audio adventure in our series Tales for Our Time - Franz Kafka's classic novella Metamorphosis. A First Day Founding Member of The Mark Steyn Club, Nancy Wenlock, enjoyed it:
Once again a brilliant rendering of an astonishing story.
But her fellow Club member Steven Payne felt differently:
I think this is crap.
Feel free to reach your own judgment: Click to hear Part Three, Part Four, Part Five and Part Six. Tales for Our Time is made possible thanks to members of The Mark Steyn Club. For more details on the Steyn Club see here. And stay tuned for Mark's latest radio serial, launching this Friday.
~On Thursday Steyn and Tucker Carlson pondered the Democrat media's ever more open contempt for half the citizenry.
~Friday's brand new edition of The Mark Steyn Show presented a special Free Speech Forum recorded before a live audience on the recent Mark Steyn cruise and featuring indispensable blogger Kathy Shaidle, singer-songwriter Tal Bachman and broadcaster and parliamentary candidate Andrew Lawton. The Mark Steyn Show is produced with the support of members of The Mark Steyn Club, for which we are profoundly grateful. You can find more details about the Steyn Club here. And don't forget our special Gift Membership (not to be confused with our SteynOnline gift certificates).
~Our weekend movie date celebrated a cinematic classic - Fellini's Nights of Cabiria.
Next weekend Mark will be in San Francisco at a gala fundraiser for the indispensable Pacific Research Institute with Victor Davis Hanson. That's on November 10th at the Ritz-Carlton, and Mark Steyn Club members can get a $50 discount on tickets by clicking here and scrolling down.
Steyn and the great Dennis Miller will be on stage together for the first time in a must-see mini-tour of Pennsylvania and western New York (also not too inconvenient for any Ontario fans) - and at all four events there's a special opportunity to meet Dennis and Mark immediately after the show.
Late on Friday, nine months after Judge Gordon's decision in CRTV's ten-million-dollar lawsuit and various fruitless delaying maneuvers by Cary Katz and his gang (aided by the general torpor of the American courts), Her Honor's award in favor of Steyn was finally entered in judgment. We thank all the camera crew, audio engineers, makeup artists and other production members who stuck with us during this difficult time: these are the people who make the video and audio content you see at this site (and elsewhere, as when Tucker Carlson hosts his Fox News show from our Vermont studio). As many readers know, after Katz and CRTV lost, they refused to accept the result and bugger off out of our lives, and immediately re-sued us for a combined twenty million dollars. For those interested (and we confess we're bored to death by this narcissist serial litigant), we've provided a handy guide to the multiple Katz/CRTV lawsuits against Mark, linking to the most recent court orders and other developments.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week, and continues with a special US Election Day edition of Clubland Q&A live at 4pm North American Eastern time.
