The Mark Steyn Club helps fund much of what we do here at SteynOnline and around the planet. Don't worry, we're not paywalling off our daily commentary or other regular features. In fact, I view with great dismay the rise of the subscription-only paywall, and I've declined invitations to be part of such enterprises. It's a weird thing to be told that you need to be out there saving western civilization - but only for premium subscribers. Anybody in the ideas business wants their ideas out in the world, available to all and tested by all. So I'm not into paywalled echo chambers - which is why this site now provides more free content than at any time in its near twenty-year history.
That's by way of explaining what The Mark Steyn Club isn't. What the Steyn Club does is help keep it going at the highest-quality level, and get it to big audiences. For example, I'm delighted to see that our TV shows with Jordan Peterson, Douglas Murray, Lindsay Shepherd and George Papadopoulos have between them, merely on YouTube, stacked up a combined audience of over two million viewers. That's not exactly viral, as the young 'uns say, and it's not like the many millions of listeners and viewers I have when I guest-host for Rush or Tucker, but it's surprisingly competitive with most US cable networks - at 8pm one Monday night, for example, CNN's Ashleigh Banfield had a total audience of 155,000. So our viewership isn't bad for a quartet of substantive serious interviewees arguing their corners on critical big-picture issues. And those shows, like everything else we do here, were made possible by members of The Mark Steyn Club.
Membership of The Mark Steyn Club isn't for everyone, but it does ensure that all our content will be for everyone, and out there in the world, from my daily commentary to our Sunday Song of the Week. So, if you're a longtime supporter of SteynOnline, I'd like to invite you to become a member of the Steyn Club as we enter our sixth year. Whether you've enjoyed me in Canadian newspapers, on American radio, on Australian stages, on UK telly, the Club is a great way to tie it all together, and access all our premium features - our monthly audio adventures, our weekend poetry videos, participation in our weekly Clubland Q&As, and all our other specials in more or less whatever format you wish (video, audio, text) - not to mention the opportunity to get together with me and fellow Club members, as on the pre-Covid Steyn Club cruises and our live Christmas shows.
You can sign up for a full twelve months - or for an experimental quarter. And either way you'll enjoy these benefits:
*Exclusive Steyn Store member pricing on over 40 books, CDs and other products.
*The opportunity to engage in Clubland Q&A sessions with yours truly every Friday.
*An exclusive series of monthly audio adaptations: Tales for Our Time. We started with my serialization of Conan Doyle's timelier than ever Tragedy of the Korosko, and moved on through H G Wells, George Orwell, Jane Austen, Conrad, Kafka, Kipling, Dickens, Gogol, The Prisoner of Zenda and The Thirty-Nine Steps and The Scarlet Pimpernel. You can either listen to an episode per night, as we aired them originally, or you can binge-listen to the whole thing on a long car journey. And we now have an archive of dozens and dozens of cracking adventures.
*Transcript and audio versions of our video content: For those who find it less stressful not to have to look at me, we're making The Mark Steyn Show available in non-visual form. If you go here, you'll find that we've already posted audio episodes of every single SteynPost all the way back to the very first one, plus some of our long-form shows, which we're also working our way through.
*Comment Club membership: you get to frolic and gambol through our comments section and take issue with me and my columns and radio shows and TV appearances. I weigh in there myself from time to time, but it's essentially your turf where you get to take the rhetorical baseball bat to any cut of my jib that happens to rankle. There's a lot of good stuff in there.
*My ongoing video series on classic poetry: Keats, Shelley and the rest of the gang.
*The opportunity to book passage on our annual Mark Steyn Club Cruise.
*Advance booking for my live appearances around the world, including members-only events.
*Customized email alerts for new content in your areas of interest (arts, politics, culture, or the whole shebang).
*and the chance to support all our content, from the Big Picture stuff on Islam and climate change and civilizational collapse to the small pleasures of good conversation, great movies and live music.
