It's always fun to check in with Stuart Varney & Company on Fox Business. This morning I swung by to discuss the Democrats' decision to double-down on identity politics. I pointed out that last year's cool kid, Bernie Sanders, and last decade's cool kid, Howard Dean, had now joined the ranks of discredited, irrelevant and insufficiently "diverse" white men. Campaigning to return to the DNC chair, Howard Dean has been dismissed by Bernie's campaign spokesperson as just another "white man" the Dems "don't need", while in turn Bernie Sanders has been dismissed by Hillary's SuperPac honcho as a "white supremacist".
I also had a word to say on the Big Recount, and on the late Fidel Castro. Click below to watch:
In that closing moment, I was having some sport with Stuart's somewhat bungled introduction:
~While we were on the air, Ohio State University was in lockdown. Shortly afterwards, the authorities held a press conference to explain that a man had intentionally driven his vehicle up on to the sidewalk and then ploughed into pedestrians. He then exited the car and began stabbing them.
Hmm... Weaponized automobiles... random stabbing with a "butcher's knife"... All rings a vague bell, doesn't it?
I don't like to jump to conclusions, really I don't. But was anybody (by which I mean any creature more sentient than an amoeba) surprised by the eventual identification of the perp?
Law enforcement officials told NBC News the suspect's name is Abdul Razaq Ali Artan, an 18-year-old student at the university. He was a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident of the United States, officials said.
The motive was unknown, although law enforcement sources said Artan posted a rant on social media prior to the incident.
Gee, I wonder what that was about. As I wearily repeat after every one of these incidents, all the stories are different and yet they're all the same.
Today, very fortunately, within two minutes of his going full Allahu Akbar on his fellow "legal permanent residents", there was a quick-witted police officer (who was nearby because of a reported gas leak) to dispatch Mr Artan to his virgins. But the question remains, and goes back to Stuart's and my discussion of identity politics: How many corpses are the free peoples of western nations willing to pile up on the altar of diversity?
