The week began with Mark's very first appearance in The North West Star of Mount Isa, Queensland - and with an Australian Song of the Week, "I Honestly Love You", which is pretty much how Mark feels about the Lucky Country after his sellout Aussie tour.
~On Monday Steyn spoke at Parliament House in Canberra, where the Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop (see picture at above) gave him a very touching introduction, calling him "our Canadian Braveheart". ABC Brisbane opted for the somewhat less heroic designation "Canadian polemicist", in an interview with Steve Austin. Click below to listen:
~On Tuesday Mark started the day with the legendary Alan Jones on 2GB discussing the malign incentives of identity politics:

~On Wednesday Oz time, just before Tuesday's caucus count Nevada time, Steyn discussed the state of the US presidential race in a somewhat severe interview with the ABC's Fran Kelly:
Rather more convivially, he then lunched with the Great Australian Wag Tim Blair and the former Prime Minister John Howard.
~There was more US politics on Thursday. In contrast to many "Republican strategists", Mark has not managed to get everything wrong this election season. In our most read piece of the week, he looked at the ever gloomier electoral-college arithmetic facing the Republican Party: "The Math and the Map."
~On Friday, following the previous night's presidential debate, Steyn considered the curious prominence of Telemundo's Maria Celeste Arrarás.
~For our weekend movie date, Mark chose the new Coen Brothers comedy Hail, Caesar!
One of Steyn's favorite media appearances in a busy week was with Tarsh, Joe, Carlotta, Jess and Denise on the Ten Network's morning TV show Studio 10, where his cat album proved more popular than his politics. Still, the hosts and studio audience both enjoyed the video for "I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat". If you haven't yet heard Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats, dedicated to Mark's own beloved cat Marvin, it has a four-and-a-half star rating over at iTunes and continues to rack up five-star reviews at Amazon, including this one:

This is a very good disc. Mark and his crew have done a great job of arranging and performing these feline themed tunes. I found these renditions more enjoyable than many of the original hits.
