Here are two contrasting approaches to morning broadcasting from my Wednesday in Sydney.
First, a somewhat solemn interview on Trump and more with Fran Kelly, on ABC's Radio National. Click below to listen:
This was immediately followed by an appearance on Studio 10 whooping it up with (from left to right on the couch) Tarsh, Joe, Carlotta, Jess and Denise. My cat album was more popular than my politics. Click below to watch (or, if it doesn't play in your particular province of cyberspace, try watching the whole thing direct at the Ten Network here):
Pardon the flyaway strands on the side shots. I got stuck in traffic en route from the ABC to the Ten studios and my hairpiece slipped.
I think this is my favorite morning telly show in the British Commonwealth since I did Global's in Toronto last year.
PS I didn't know the scale of the Trump victory in Nevada when I spoke to Fran Kelly, and granted that caucus states have much lower turnout than primary states, but, as I write, his 46 per cent equals Cruz and Rubio combined. The "consolidation" of the anti-Trump vote might be going the way of all the other magic bullets to rescue the GOP from their Trumpenstein monster. And, for all the talk of Trump's low ceiling, Cruz's and Rubio's ceilings are barely more than a crawl space.
