I'll be back behind the Golden EIB Microphone today, guest-hosting for Rush on America's Number One radio show, live from 12 noon Eastern/9am Pacific. I hope you'll be able to join me for some part of the three-hour substitute-host-level excellence-in-broadcasting, either via one of the hundreds of radio stations across the land or via the iHeartRadio livestream or your Rush 24/7 subscription. There'll be a little bit of election news, foreign policy, cricket scores, something for everyone.
~Over at TownHall, John Hawkins has compiled a list of the Top 20 Quotes of 2015. Yours truly makes the list - just. But then I am the only foreigner on the hit parade. The other 19 are well worth your time.
~Readers keep complaining to me that they head over to Amazon to buy my brand new cat CD, Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats, only to find it listed as "temporarily out of stock". That's just 'cause it keeps flying off the shelves over there, but I have it on good authority that the latest shipment is being unpacked on the Amazon loading dock even as I write. So, if you order it now, it'll be shoved into an envelope later today by Mr Bezos' minions and winging its way to you. And millions - well, okay, dozens - of Americans are currently gainfully employed at some factory somewhere spitting out the latest pressing of the CD.
I liked this Tweet from Mary Cerrato:
Fav present this year from my fav cat, Snuggles, by a guy I love + appreciate listening 2 always!
You can see Snuggles at top right, curled up with Feline Groovy and Making Spirits Bright. Feline Groovy, featuring my own beloved cat Marvin on the cover, is available on CD from Amazon, CD Baby or direct from the Steyn store. And, of course, for instant gratification, it can be yours in seconds via digital download from Amazon or iTunes.
~Less discerning types than Snuggles have demanded to know what I'm doing releasing a cat album. Well, one reason for doing it is that I'm being sued for a sum in the high seven figures by global warming "hockey stick" inventor and self-conferred Nobel Laureate Michael E Mann, and the case is now well into its fourth year in the choked septic tank of the District of Columbia "justice" system. So one is obliged to be a little inventive just to keep oneself afloat. For an update on the current status of the case, including its delivery into the hands of a judge who takes three years to deliver rulings, see my testimony to the United States Senate from earlier this month. It was an instructive experience for a foreigner. If you missed it, here's my opening statement:
And here's me and Dr Judith Curry pushing back against the appallingly ill-mannered Senator from Massachusetts, Ed Markey:
Which is apparently the first time in over two centuries that anyone's turned the tables and started peppering the senator with questions. If that's so, Americans should do it more often.
On the broader climate questions, I was honored to be part of two climatological bestsellers this year. The first - Climate Change: The Facts - is just that. The second is more directly focused on the cartoon climatology on display at Paris and elsewhere: "A Disgrace to the Profession": The World's Scientists - in Their Own Words - on Michael E Mann, His Hockey Stick, and Their Damage to Science, Volume One is my fun round-up of what real scientists think about the planet's most notorious cartoon climatologist.
Ross McKitrick, along with Steve McIntyre, did more to demolish the global-warming "hockey stick" than anybody else. As he wrote in Canada's Financial Post:
As Mark Steyn's excruciatingly convincing book A Disgrace to the Profession makes clear, about the only thing there's a real consensus on today is that, despite its prominence in government reports, the hockey stick was garbage.
As you know, Mann's plan was to sue me into silence. We're happy to say it's not working out quite as he intended. And, while we're waiting for Doctor Fraudpants to agree to discovery, "A Disgrace To The Profession" is a great way to prop up my end of this interminable case, and arm yourself with the facts to push back against the Big Climate enforcers. ~Florida reader Matt McWilliams writes:
Mark,
Regarding your latest post on Family Planning in the New Europe, I think there is something more basic at work than civilizational emptiness. As my wife often says, "women are looking for men who act like men." In the testosterone competition between the bearded Jihadis and the effete post-modern pansies that the west has been turning out for the past 30 plus years, guess who wins? As the west has worked to extinguish maleness, it's no surprise it has also gone a long way to extinguishing itself.

There's a lot of truth in that.
See you on the radio.
