This week Mark comes down from his mountain fortress to spend Christmas week in the city guest-hosting "Hannity" on Fox News (and later America's Number One radio show).

The week began with a cornucopia of Sinatra centenary celebrations, including Mark in conversation with Alan Bergman, co-writer of "WIndmills Of Your Mind" and "The Way We Were", recalling the early hits he wrote for Frank.
~On Monday Steyn gave readers a glimpse of the backstory to his showdown with Democrat blowhard Ed Markey at the United States Senate, and also of the appalling behavior of Republican senators: "The GOP Don't Never Dance With Them What Brung Them."
~On Tuesday Mark noted that Bowe Bergdahl would face a general court martial, but wondered why the President had chosen to celebrate a deserter in the Rose Garden. In what became our most-read piece of the week, he also considered the advice of Swedish economics professors to invite a Somali for dinner.
~Wednesday was a busy media day for Steyn as he went about promoting his brand new cat album, Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats. He started the day analyzing Tuesday's Republican debate with Bill Bennett's Morning in America, and talking climate change with John Oakley on Toronto's AM640. In the evening, he checked in with Sean Hannity on Fox News. Click below to watch:

~On Thursday Steyn considered the competing charms, at least for Saudi women, of camels vs Saudi men.
~Friday marked the fifth anniversary of the Arab "Spring", and Mark revisited his original judgment that it marked the dawn of the post-western Middle East.
~For his weekend column Steyn responded to accusations of "Islamophobia" and pondered "the fabric's fading dye". For our Saturday movie date, he looked back at Star Wars - the story so far.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with a special seasonal edition of The Song Is You. On Monday morning, just after 7am Eastern, Mark will be joining the gang at "Fox & Friends" to promote Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats.

I bought two of copies of "Feline Groovy" from the Steyn online store to give to fellow cat-fanciers for Christmas plus one for myself, but after playing my CD again and again, I have restocked for my music-loving friends too. This CD is a joy. "Feline Groovy" brought back some tunes I had forgotten ("Top Cat" and "Alley Cat") and introduced me to some witty lyrics I never heard before ("Chase Me, Charlie" and "The Pussy Foot."). There's even a Rossini meow mix for the longhairs. The arrangements and orchestrations, interpreted by terrific musicians and Mark's back-up kitties, are so much fun to listen to I'm afraid I'm going to wear out the groovys on my copy. Five stars to Mark's mews Marvin for inspiring this gem: the cat's got taste.
