This morning I started the day with Dan and Amy on Chicago's Morning Answer on AM560. We discussed my new cat album, as well as my appearance at the US Senate - and the competing national security challenges of climate change, jihad and large women. Click below to listen:
~A couple of days ago I discussed my exchange with Senator Markey of Massachusetts on the radio with Howie Carr. If you missed the show, you can listen to it here. Howie has more to say about it in his column today:
What a profile in courage Markey is. Remember that his first vote in the Senate in 2013 was "Present."
Now Markey was scoffing at another "denier" witness, Dr. Judith Curry, after which he cut her off.
"Have you read my testimony?" she asked the former ice-cream truck driver once known in Malden as "Mr. Frosty." "Have you read my testimony?"
The blood drained from Markey's face. Point of order — no trick questions!
"Why can't she respond?" Steyn yelled. "You impugned her integrity!"
Markey started sputtering ... "97 percent of scientists ... warmest year ever ... trend is straight up."
Steyn interrupted again: "Do you know what the Little Ice Age was, Senator?"
The Little Ice Age! That's like waving a crucifix, a silver bullet and a clove of garlic in Dracula's face all at once... Remember, Steyn was the witness, and he had hijacked the hearing from a solon who's been in Congress since 1976.
Dr Curry writes about that Senate hearing from the point of view of the science here. Laura Rosen Cohen also has a few observations:
But before the official hearing even began, Big Climate brought out some of their enforcers to do what Steyn identifies as witness tampering.
It's painful to watch, but you must watch it first of all, to see how the left is allowed to and encouraged to break all the rules: rules of proceedings, decorum, honour and civil interaction. They lie and cheat without remorse or regret because the ends justify the means.
(This disgraceful conduct may have criminal blowback, by the way.)
But moreover, you have to listen to it, because Steyn sounds totally butch repeating the line "he said not a dime, you sonofabitch"...
I found the general tone of the Brainless Beltway Bimbos extremely rude and arrogant. These "public servants" are a despicable lot, and the most appalling thing was that they haughtily lectured the experts on the panel, and then basically told them each to shut up after they were done with ghastly rudeness like "I didn't ask for your answer", or "I'm not asking you to respond", or other equally grotesque and uncivil variations of SHUT UP.
Yeah. Whether via the perversion of parliamentary process that is the Senate or the Greenpeace witness-tamperers or Senator Whitehouse threatening RICO prosecutions, it's all about the SHUT UP.
~As for that new cat album of mine that Dan and Amy were kind enough to mention, Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats is available instantly worldwide in digital download via Amazon and iTunes. But for you traditionalists it's also available in CD from Amazon and CD Baby - so you can savor the terrific pic of me and my cat Marvin in the wee small hours at one of the local nightspots we like to frequent, sipping "cattinis", as Dan called the cover beverage.
