I'll be spending Black Friday on the air, guest-hosting for Rush on America's Number One radio show, live from 12 noon Eastern/9am Pacific. But I'd like to think that at least some of the folks trampling li'l ol' ladies into the dust at shopping malls up and down the land will be stampeding for my new cat album, Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats. It's officially released this coming Monday, but you can pre-order it via Amazon in CD or digital format - or via iTunes, which has a sneak preview of one track, "The Cat Came Back". Margarete already has her copy and is enjoying it:
Mark,
We ordered this album directly from the Mark Steyn website and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The most favorite of course it the last one: "She only talks that way to the cat." We surely know what you are talking about. ;-). Another favorite is "Chase me Charlie.
Those two songs alone are worth the cost of 'ownership' of this fun release.
Of course every true cat lover will either want one of these for a Christmas present or give this to somebody and clever Mark Steyn, who has been telling his readers for years that while the world goes to hell, the masses are watching cat videos, figured out how to cash in on this trend.
Thanks Mark, we love you for it.
Margarete D
Thank you for that, Margarete. "She Only Talks That Way To The Cat" is looking like the breakout track on the album, but "Chase Me, Charlie" is a very sweet song about girl cat/boy cat stuff and I'm very touched you like that one, too. Feline Groovy is dedicated to his own groovy feline Marvin, who stars with me on the cover. Inside, you'll find a baker's dozen of the world's greatest cat songs, from Rossini to Ted Nugent. We couldn't persuade Rossini to give us a quote for the album, but Ted Nugent did ("Mark Steyn nails the soulfullness of my classic song!"). As for cat videos, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Scroll down if you haven't yet seen my contribution to the genre.
The Christmas season means great special offers with big savings on Steyn books, Steyn CDs, Steyn trialwear, and various Yuletide combinations thereof. We hope you'll check them out soon, because they vanish with the dawning of Boxing Day.
~I was honored to be part of two climatological bestsellers this year, either of which makes a fine Christmas present for the warm-monger or denier among your loved one. The first - Climate Change: The Facts - is just that, and is also available as part of our Big Climate Special. The second is my pushback against Big Climate enforcer Michael E Mann, whose suit against me for defamation is now in its fourth year at the DC Superior Court of Climate Apostasy. "A Disgrace to the Profession": The World's Scientists - in Their Own Words - on Michael E Mann, His Hockey Stick, and Their Damage to Science, Volume One is my fun round-up of what real scientists think about the planet's most notorious cartoon climatologist.
Ross McKitrick, along with Steve McIntyre, did more to demolish the global-warming "hockey stick" than anybody else. As he wrote yesterday in Canada's Financial Post:
As Mark Steyn's excruciatingly convincing book A Disgrace to the Profession makes clear, about the only thing there's a real consensus on today is that, despite its prominence in government reports, the hockey stick was garbage.
As you know, Mann's plan was to sue me into silence. We're happy to say it's not working out quite as he intended. And, while we're waiting for Doctor Fraudpants to agree to discovery, "A Disgrace To The Profession": The World's Scientists - In Their Own Words - On Michael E Mann, His Hockey Stick, and Their Damage To Science: Volume One is a great way to prop up my end of this interminable case, and arm yourself with the facts to push back against the Big Climate enforcers. ~I'm also humbled to be part of a great new book marking the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta. At a time when individual liberty is in retreat around the world, and counts for little at American college campuses, the lessons of this great foundational document of anglophone freedom are more important than ever. Make sure you put your friends on your Christmas Carta list!
~If you're seeking a wider-ranging Steyn read, don't miss the ultimate collection: The [Un]documented Mark Steyn. From Osama to Obama, guns to groping, Reagan to road signs, clones to drones, rock'n'crocs, it's all here, in one handy volume. As Rush said in the Limbaugh Letter, The [Un]documented Mark Steyn is a "must-read new book" from a guy who's "gutsy" and "courageous as hell". Right here at SteynOnline is the only place you can get a personally autographed copy. To order, simply click here.
~Ever since my legal woes heated up and it became clear that the Mann vs Steyn case would be moving to trial, we've had various suggestions as to what promotional items we should be offering both to raise funds for me to afford a sub-minimum-wage undocumented paralegal and, more broadly, to let folks show their support for the cause. So we took your advice, and introduced two new designs, "Steyn vs the Stick" and "Clash of Sticks", that are now available both as T-shirts and sweat shirts (for men and women) and on mousepads and coffee mugs. We're also making it available with my book Lights Out in a Steyn vs the Stick Free Speech Special. It's a good way to support the side of free speech in what (as the ACLU, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and others have recognized) will be the most consequential First Amendment case in half-a-century.
If you're unsure which books to get or what size T-shirt to order for your loved one, our SteynOnline gift certificates make a great seasonal gift, as well as an easy way to help support my end of the upcoming trial of the century. You can buy a gift certificate starting at $25 (and soaring way up from there), and let your friends and relatives load up with Steyn books and music and trial merchandise at their leisure. The gift certificates have no expiration date, so if, in ten years' time, your favorite nephew has a sudden yen for $100 worth of Clash of Sticks mugs, it'll still be valid.
The gift certificates are available online here. Alternatively, US and Canadian customers can purchase them - or any other product from the Steyn store - by calling (866) 799-4500 toll free from 8am to 3pm Eastern time on weekdays.
And if, after all that, you'd rather support my legal battle by buying a book or CD, well, we've got everything from "A Marshmallow World" to the post-American world. There's the paperback edition of my previous international bestseller After America, and all my other books, personally autographed to your loved one. There are stylish Viva Steyn! shirts for men and women, and lots of other SteynOnline tees, sweats and golf shirts, plus mugs and other gifts - and all the music your party needs, via CD or digital download.
And don't forget, there are savings galore if you buy The [Un]documented Mark Steyn or Goldfinger or our other fine products as part of our exclusive SteynOnline special offers. It's easier than spending Black Friday getting ground into the dust by walker-wielding nonagenarian bargain-hunters at the mall - and gives you more time to spend listening to the radio between 12 noon and 3pm Eastern.
~Oh, yeah, before I forget, that cat video: When you do an album of cat songs, there are certain ones that everyone expects you to have - and "I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat", beloved by three generations of Looney Tunes fans, certainly falls into that category.
The only problem was I couldn't think of any way to do it. I mean, Tweety and Sylvester are great, but I didn't want to attempt a third-rate Mel Blanc impression, thufferin' thucotash. And yet there didn't seem to be any other way to sing the number. And then I remembered a certain hit by The Police from the 1980s...
So, with a top of the hat to Tweety, Sylvester ,,,and Sting:
At any rate, I thank my beautiful cat Marvin, who isn't half as scary as the one in that song and without whose encouragement it would never have occurred to me to go anywhere near this number. The album - Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats - is officially released on Monday, but can be ordered from Amazon and iTunes right now.
