On Monday Mark will be starting the week promoting his new book with New England's radio colossus Howie Carr at WRKO Boston, live at 3.30pm Eastern. At the end of this month, he'll be in New Orleans for the big investment conference with Charles Krauthammer, Peter Schiff, Doug Kass et al. Full details here.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
The week began with Thanksgiving in Canada and Columbus Day in America. But in Europe, on this Columbus Day, it's the Old World that's being re-made into a New World.
~On Monday Steyn marked the centenary of Harry "Sweets" Edison, master of the trumpet mute, with "The End Of A Love Affair".
~On Tuesday, Mark saluted Mrs Thatcher on what would have been her 90th birthday. Speaking of commanding female leaders, none was in evidence at that night's presidential debate, although various Democrat beta-males did their best to make Hillary look like one.
~The following day Steyn appeared with Sean Hannity on Fox News to do his celebrated Bernie Sanders impression. Click below to watch:
~On Thursday Mark kept his weekly date on The Hugh Hewitt Show to discuss Obama foreign policy - or rather the vacuum created thereby.
~On Friday Steyn considered the scandal of George Mason University's Big Climate racketeers, and the alarmists' ever more open contempt for democracy. The latest thuggery from climate totalitarians also provided fodder for Mark's most-read piece of the week.
~We like to lighten up at the weekend. So our latest Sinatra Century song celebrated "The Best Is Yet To Come". And, just ahead of Monday's Canadian election, Steyn's Saturday movie feature considered the eroticism of car crashes.
In a further casualty of the war on free speech, it turns out Mark can't even get a table at a Copenhagen trattoria, but, as Douglas Murray reflected, freedom has always been defended by a few. That's something to bear in mind as Steyn, John Roskam and Chris Berg's new book marks the 800th annniversary of Magna Carta.
Thank you to readers around the world for another grand week for "A Disgrace to the Profession": The World's Scientists - in their Own Words - on Michael E Mann, his Hockey Stick, and their Damage to Science: Volume One. After flying off the shelves and selling out earlier this week, the print version of Mark's book is back in stock at Amazon, but it's also instantly available in Kindle and Nook. We enjoyed this review from D Mayerson:
If you can't decide whether Mann is a hoax or a hero, you should be able to decide after reading the words of some of the top names in climate science, geoscience, and physics as they don't just criticize but, for the most part, disembowel Mann's hockey stick.
Not to mention this one from Richard Evans at Amazon UK:
Steyn has to be the foremost writer in the world...
If you say so. And one more from Edward A Fitch at Amazon Canada:
Masterful "defenestration". They should up the charge against Steyn from libel to Mann-slaughter.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week.
~There are other ways to support Mark's side in the upcoming Mann vs Steyn trial of the century, if you're so inclined:
1) STEYNONLINE GIFT CERTIFICATES
You can buy a gift certificate starting at $25 (and soaring way up from there), for yourself or your friends and family. The gift certificates have no expiration date, so if, in ten years' time, your favorite nephew has a sudden burning desire for $100 worth of Mark's disco CD, it'll still be valid. On the other hand, if you want to buy a certificate and sit on it until Mark wins the case, that works, too.
The gift certificates are available online here. Alternatively, US and Canadian customers can make a telephone purchase by calling (866) 799-4500 toll free from 8am to 3pm Eastern time on weekdays.
Aside from "A Disgrace To The Profession", he's written lots of other books, on free speech and much more. They're available individually or as part of various special offers.
3) EXCLUSIVE STEYN vs THE STICK TRIAL MERCHANDISE
Our "Steyn vs the Stick" and "Clash of Sticks" designs are available both on mousepads and coffee mugs and as T-shirts and sweat shirts.
