This coming week Mark will be out and about promoting his new book. He's also honored to be part of an 800th birthday celebration of Magna Carta.

The week began with an American singer singing a Canadian arrangement of a Welsh song about an English lane.
~Monday saw our most-read piece of the week, as Mark considered Taliban proverbs, lesbian bishops, and the very very very teeny teeny teeny teeny percentage of violent extremists who are extremistly violent.
~On Tuesday Steyn took the pulse of election campaigns north and south of the border, with the accent on uproar in Canada, and in America the advantages illegal immigrants bring to Electoral College apportionment.
~Wednesday was a big radio day for Mark: He started out talking gun control and the latest Tory "outrage" with John Oakley in Toronto, and later filled in for a cold-stricken Rush on America's Number One radio show. The "97 per cent consensus" on climate change came up, which gave Steyn an opportunity to plug his new book.
~On Thursday Rush was still under the weather so Mark guest-hosted for a second show, in the course of which Kevin McCarthy withdrew from the race for Speaker. More importantly, Steyn addressed the question of Cisinjuns vs Transinjuns.
~On Friday our Request of the Week pondered the decadent detachment of our ruling class as the world burns.
~On Saturday Mark celebrated a brace of Harrys: the centenary of the great trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison, and the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
It was a grim week for free speech, what with Irish university students cheering the murder of Charlie Hebdo's cartoonists and international jurists contemplating the criminalization of climate change. At the weekend, Steyn joined John Stossel, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Bosch Fawstin and Kirsten Powers for a free speech special on Fox News. Here's a brief excerpt:
