Today, Thursday, I started the day with Brian Kilmeade on the radio and Stuart Varney on the telly. A lot of post-debate analysis with Brian, with a particularly crucial bit, I thought, on a blind spot of Ben Carson's re Mullah Omar et al.
With Stuart Varney, I stuck around for the full hour and we surveyed the scene near and far, from Planned Parenthood to the divisions in Europe re all those "migrants". We'll post more highlights of the show as they emerge, but for starters here's Sal La Mastra arguing that millennials are supporting Trump, and yours truly advancing the alternative case that they might be hotter for Bernie - and here I am chipping it on the link between declining social mobility and the political class' preferred choice.
As for that book of mine that Brian and Stuart were kind enough to mention, that's my very latest - "A Disgrace to the Profession", the story of the 21st century's most famous graph and the damage it has done both to science and public policy. And, as Stuart mentioned, he's right up there on page one. Because, after the Climategate scandal at East Anglia, I switched on the TV and there was Stuart Varney interviewing Ed Begley, Jr, the actor-turned-activist, whose vigorous defense of Michael E Mann and his colleagues to Stuart is quoted at the very front of the book:
If these scientists have done something wrong, it will be found out and their peers will determine it... Don't get your information from me, folks, or any newscaster. Get it from people with PhD after their names.
So I did. And the result is an eye-opener of a book. It's already in its fourth printing. But, if you no longer care for paper, it's also available in Kindle and Nook. We're still the Number One climatology bestseller, and piling up the five-star reviews at Amazon US:
No matter which side you are on in debate over climate change, its impact, and solutions, the debate needs to be thoughtful and respectful. Mark Steyn's use of scientists' own words (from both sides of the debate) on the origin, basis for, and use of the "hockey stick" is an instructive lesson on the importance of the integrity of the debate.
