This week Mark will be out and about promoting his new book, which is already in its fourth printing - and eligible for big bestseller discounts at Amazon. Later this month he'll be in Copenhagen for the tenth anniversary of the Mohammed cartoons. If you're in the general vicinity of Europe and can squeeze through all the "refugees", do come along. Tickets available here.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
The week began with Europe under siege from all those "refugees". As Mark put it, what's to stop them walking across the Continent and taking it?
~Monday was Labor Day in the US and Labour Day in Canada. Steyn marked the occasion with a Sinatra song for the season, and a contemplation of a world without work.
~On Tuesday Mark joined Sean Hannity on Fox News to discuss the Clinton campaign's announcement that, following extensive poll-testing, Hillary is planning to be more spontaneous.
~On Wednesday Her Majesty The Queen pipped her great-great-grandmother Victoria to become the longest-reigning sovereign in the history of her various realms. Steyn saluted a great survivor and suggested that the trick to monarchy is not queening it.
~On Thursday Mark returned to the Ricochet podcast for the first time in a couple of years. The result was a zippy hour-long interview on everything from Bernie Sanders to environmentally friendly malodorousness. While promoting his new book, Steyn did a lot of radio this week: in Chicago, he offered his thoughts on bipartisan extremists, and with Hugh Hewitt he noted that, while predictions of Trump imploding have failed to come to pass, there seems to be an awful lot of imploding going on elsewhere.
~Friday marked 14 years since "the day everything changed" - when a man in an Afghan cave pulled off the bloodiest terrorist attack in American history. Mark found it a dispiriting anniversary, and suggested that, in fact, far too little had changed. He also considered another grim milestone: the tenth anniversary of the Mohammed cartoons, and our willingness to trade core liberties in hopes of a quiet life.
~September 11th was also the 90th birthday of one of America's great lyricists, Alan Bergman. We celebrated with one of his early hits for Sinatra, "Nice 'n' Easy". And for our Saturday movie date we continued in a 9/11 vein with the burqa pic Kandahar.
Thank you so much to our readers around the world for a great second week for "A Disgrace to the Profession": The World's Scientists - in their Own Words - on Michael E Mann, his Hockey Stick, and their Damage to Science - Volume One: "If you read only one book on the climate science wars, you need to read this book," writes Dr Natalie Björklund-Gordon, PhD. "Steyn on Mann should be included as a mandatory textbook for anyone studying ethics of science or history of science."
On the other hand, we also have our first celebrity pan of Mark's tome - from no less than Population Bomb huckster Paul Ehrlich!
Mark is enjoying his interviews for the new book. Be sure to listen to his lively half-hour with Jim Lakely of the Heartland Institute. And, in case you missed it, here he is with Dan & Amy on AM560 in the Windy City:
"A Disgrace to the Profession" is available personally autographed by Mark exclusively from SteynOnline - or, alternatively, non-autographed but steeply discounted at Amazon. And, if you need it in the next 90 seconds, it can be yours anywhere on the planet via Kindle or Nook.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week. Look for more from Mark about "A Disgrace To The Profession" in the days ahead, starting with appearances on KickAss Politics with Ben Mathis and Sean Hannity's radio show.
~There are other ways to support Mark's side in the upcoming Mann vs Steyn trial of the century, if you're so inclined:
1) STEYNONLINE GIFT CERTIFICATES
You can buy a gift certificate starting at $25 (and soaring way up from there), for yourself or your friends and family. The gift certificates have no expiration date, so if, in ten years' time, your favorite nephew has a sudden burning desire for $100 worth of Mark's disco CD, it'll still be valid. On the other hand, if you want to buy a certificate and sit on it until Mark wins the case, that works, too.
The gift certificates are available online here. Alternatively, US and Canadian customers can make a telephone purchase by calling (866) 799-4500 toll free from 8am to 3pm Eastern time on weekdays.
Aside from "A Disgrace To The Profession", he's written lots of other books, on free speech and much more. They're available individually or as part of various special offers.
3) EXCLUSIVE STEYN vs THE STICK TRIAL MERCHANDISE
Our "Steyn vs the Stick" and "Clash of Sticks" designs are available both on mousepads and coffee mugs and as T-shirts and sweat shirts.
