Happy Labor Day weekend to our American readers and Happy Labour Day weekend to our Canadian readers. Mark will have some holiday musings and a song for the season tomorrow.
This last week saw the launch of Steyn's new book. After five days, it's already in its fourth printing - and eligible for big 40% bestseller discounts at Amazon. But, if you no longer care for paper, it's also available in Kindle and Nook.
But, aside from book-plug duties, Mark also found time to comment on many of the other big stories of the week. In case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to him:
The week began with Barack Obama traveling to Alaska to strip William McKinley of his mountain. Having helped preserve the name of North America's second-highest peak from a similar act of Trudeaupian appropriation, Steyn was not impressed.
~On Monday Mark was in Montreal for CJAD's Tommy Schnurmacher Show, musing on elections north and south, sewers and servers ...and gazebos.
~Tuesday saw the official release of Steyn's new book, "A Disgrace to the Profession", hailed as "probably the longest, funniest, most savvily organized and meticulous 'screw you' in the history of Western literature". Mark discussed it, along with Hillary's recklessness with classified material, with Sean Hannity on Fox News.
~Wednesday was a big radio day for Steyn on both sides of the border, starting with John Oakley in Toronto and continuing with Buck Sexton on The Blaze, and covering everything from Obama's alarms over melting glaciers to the even more rapid meltdown of the Hillary 2016 campaign. ~The big news of the week was the remorseless refugee tide lapping Europe and accelerated by the implosion of the Middle East. On Thursday Mark analyzed both with Hugh "Gotcha!" Hewitt, and talked about other news of the day plus his new book in an appearance with Jay Weber in Milwaukee.
~On Friday Steyn appeared on The Glenn Beck Show. If you haven't heard it, this was a really terrific, extended interview covering climate alarmism, Iran and Isis, the death of Europe, and a little bit of Donald Trump, too. Click below to listen - Mark turns up about 40 minutes in:
~We like to lighten up a little at weekends. Mark's Friday Sinatra Century hit was the effervescent "Just In Time", a peppy contrast with our saloon-song classic "Angel Eyes". For our Saturday movie date, we spent some quality time in the CIA ventilation shaft with Tom Cruise.
