Mark will be starting the week guest-hosting for Rush on America's Number One radio show. His new book, personally autographed, is now available exclusively from SteynOnline - just ahead of its official launch on September 1st. It's tickling the Top 200 at Amazon Canada, and a big Climatology seller at Amazon US. It's a Meteorology bestseller in the United Kingdom, and Number One on the Environmental Science hit parade in Australia.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
We have an interest in both meteorology and music at SteynOnline. The week began with a combination of the two: "Stars Fell On Alabama".
~On Monday Donald Trump unveiled his immigration proposals as he continued his domination of both the news media and the Republican presidential process. Mark considered the phenomenon in "The Trumping of Party".
~On Tuesday Mark checked in with Sean Hannity on Fox News to examine Trump's lead and his call for an end to birthright citizenship. He also touched on the day's other big story - the revelation that Hillary Clinton kept the confidential communications of American foreign policy on a private server in some bloke's toilet in Colorado: "On Her Majesty's Secret Server."
~Wednesday's SteynOnline Request of the Week answered Nigel Grigg's curiosity as to whether Mark liked any songs by his fellow Canadian Leonard Cohen. He also spent an enjoyable two hours on the air with his old boss Conrad Black and Chicago radio legend Milt Rosenberg. You can hear the full show here.
~Among those who've enjoyed Mark's new book is the eminent climate scientist Dr Judith Curry, who said it had "much wit and plenty of zingers". Dr Curry is a frequent target of the climate mullahs. On Thursday Mark considered one of the more repulsive aspects of the "climate wars": "The Ugly Misogyny of Big Climate."
~On Friday Mark was on Newsmax TV with Steve Malzberg and returned to the subject of Hillary's closet. Click below for the full interview:
Since Mark began previewing his latest work, "A Disgrace to the Profession": The World's Scientists - in their Own Words - on Michael E Mann, his Hockey Stick, and their Damage to Science - Volume One, folks around the Internet have been commenting on it: in the words of one blogger, "my hat is off to Mark Steyn, not only because he is taking a courageous stand for free speech ...but also for doing so in an incredibly gutsy and brilliant way". Tom Dilatush calls it "an absolutely devastating summary" of Mann and his politicized cartoon science and says "it must give him a taste – a bitter, foul taste – of what he's up against in a fight with Mark Steyn". Mann's remaining defenders did not take it well and foolish supporters such as "science journalist" David Appell began making false accusations about the book without taking the trouble to read it.
Mark spent much of the week dusting off his rusty Finnish to try to figure out whether Helsinki University Professor Antero Järvinen was giving his tome two thumbs up or down, so SteynOnline was the place to be if you've ever wondered what "a disgrace to the profession", "brazen fraud" or "the most successful pseudoscientific fraud" is in Finnish ("häpeäksi ammattikunnalle", "julkeaan petokseen" and "menestynein pseudotieteellinen petos", respectively).
We like to kick our shoes off at the weekend. Friday's Sinatra Century song was a bewitching one. For our Saturday movie date, Mark went in search of a truly ridiculous thriller and found it in Bruce Willis' tale of The Jackal.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week. Look for more from Mark about "A Disgrace To The Profession" in the days ahead - and don't miss his return to the Golden EIB Microphone as he guest-hosts The Rush Limbaugh Show on Monday and Tuesday, live for three hours starting at 12 noon Eastern/9am Pacific.
~There are other ways to support Mark's side in the upcoming Mann vs Steyn trial of the century, if you're so inclined:
1) STEYNONLINE GIFT CERTIFICATES
You can buy a gift certificate starting at $25 (and soaring way up from there), for yourself or your friends and family. The gift certificates have no expiration date, so if, in ten years' time, your favorite nephew has a sudden burning desire for $100 worth of Mark's disco CD, it'll still be valid. On the other hand, if you want to buy a certificate and sit on it until Mark wins the case, that works, too.
The gift certificates are available online here. Alternatively, US and Canadian customers can make a telephone purchase by calling (866) 799-4500 toll free from 8am to 3pm Eastern time on weekdays.
Aside from "A Disgrace To The Profession", he's written lots of other books, on free speech and much more. They're available individually or as part of various special offers.
3) EXCLUSIVE STEYN vs THE STICK TRIAL MERCHANDISE
Our "Steyn vs the Stick" and "Clash of Sticks" designs are available both on mousepads and coffee mugs and as T-shirts and sweat shirts.
