Happy Day After International Cat Day! As you know, way back when, Mark wrote a 270-word blog post about the global-warming "hockey stick", and fake Nobel Laureate Michael E Mann decided to sue him over it. The case is now entering its fourth year in the sclerotic District of Columbia courts. So, given that DC's incompetent jurists can't decide whether a 270-word blog post is lawful and permissible in under half a decade, Mark figures his new book should be good for at least a third of a century. More details below.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it, here's how the last seven days looked to Steyn:
The week began with news that Mullah Omar is now pushing up daisies, instead of pushing up daisycutters, as should have happened to him on an autumn night in 2001. Mark also mourned the passing last weekend of the late Cilla Black with the theme song Paul McCartney wrote for her.
~On Monday the US Senate failed to muster enough votes to defund Planned Parenthood, prompting Steyn to consider what the world's only billion-dollar baby-parts business says about America today.
~Ululations continued for Cecil the Lion, to which story Mark applied some Rhodes scholarship. On Tuesday he recounted the convoluted tale of an even more famous African lion.
~By Wednesday Washington was a-flutter with rumors that Joe Biden was about to stiff Hillary and enter the presidential race. Mark welcomed him as a safe pair of hands.
~Thursday was the much anticipated first Republican presidential debate, as well as the first Republican presidential B-team debate, with a Canadian party leaders' debate in between. Mark discussed the Happy Hour debate on the radio with Hugh Hewitt, and the Trump vs Kelly Main Event on the TV with Sean Hannity.
~Our Sinatra Century continued with the best bossa nova to come out of Baghdad and on Friday the easiest song sale any songwriters ever made.
For our Saturday movie date, Steyn went back to the dystopian hell of pre-Giuliani New York for Death Wish.
To return to the litigious climate mullah Michael E Mann: Two German climatologists Sebastian Lüning and Fritz Vahrenholt said last week that "Michael Mann can no longer be taken seriously". Evidently many scientists agree, which is why Mark had no trouble finding material for his brand new book "A Disgrace To The Profession": The world's scientists on Michael E Mann, his hockey stick, and their damage to science - Volume One. It will be out in print and eBook at all the usual outlets in about a month but for the moment is exclusively available right now, in paperback personally autographed by Mark, direct from SteynOnline. So be the first on your block with a signed copy! And don't forget all profits go to support Mark's end of the upcoming Mann vs Steyn trial of the century.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week.
