I spent Black Friday behind the Golden EIB Microphone sitting in for Rush on America's Number One radio show. It was a fun ride today and we discussed many things - from immigration to ISIS to impeachment - but we also talked about a man from the Colorado town of Fruitvale (seriously), who's been charged with a felony for threatening two police officers with a banana:
Anyway, the big takeaway from this is it's now illegal to point a banana at law enforcement. As Harry Belafonte sang:
Come, Mister Copper Man
Take down me banana
Sheriff come
And me wan' go home.
A few more moments from the show can be found here.
~There may have been a bit more music from me on the show than anyone was in the mood for. But, if you're interested, my version of Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" and "The Way You Look Tonight" in French are from my new CD Goldfinger, and the disco version of "A Marshmallow World" is on Jessica's and my Christmas album Making Spirits Bright.
~If you're wondering about that Mark Twain event I mentioned on the show today, it's on Monday December 8th in Hartford, Connecticut just across the street from the Mark Twain House. Your local Rush station WTIC is one of the co-presenters of the event, and NPR's Scott Simon will be quizzing me. You can find full details and reserve tickets here.
~As I have had cause to reflect from time to time over my co-defendants in the Michael Mann suit, it's important in any legal fight who your allies are. I would not have won my free-speech battles in Canada without my friend Ezra Levant. Yesterday, in the Ontario Superior Court, Justice Wendy Matheson ruled against Ezra in the defamation suit brought by lone sock puppet Khurrum Awan. I shall have more to say about Madam Justice Matheson's decision when I have fully digested it, but, on a cursory read, much of it tends toward the psychoanalytical, for which the Queen's justice would not seem obviously qualified. That said, for those of us who attended the trial, it was clear that Ezra was outlawyered, and in that sense Brian Shiller and his co-counsel Angela Chaisson are to be congratulated on their victory. It is nevertheless a disturbing verdict, and one that hardcore Islam is already crowing about. Crescent International, for good measure, breezily states that I've called for genocide against Muslims. I wonder if Mr Shiller would represent me in a defamation suit...
~Tomorrow morning, Saturday, I'll be back on the radio with the great Larry Kudlow, live at 11am Eastern/8am Pacific.
~In his big interview with me for The Limbaugh Letter, Rush calls The [Un]documented Mark Steyn a "must-read". If you really must read it, it's available in America from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million, and from Indigo-Chapters, Amazon and McNally-Robinson in Canada. Or you can be reading it within seconds - via Kindle, Kobo, Nook and iBooks. And, wherever you are on the planet, we're happy to ship you a personally autographed copy direct from the SteynOnline bookstore.
