In case you missed it, here's the last seven days as seen by Mark:
~He started the week with a puff piece on the art of the cigarette song.
~On Monday, following the arrest of a political candidate in Britain for the crime of quoting Winston Churchilll, Mark asked whether the English-speaking peoples are losing the habits of freedom.
~On Tuesday Designated Hater of the Week Donald Sterling was fined $2.5 million for remarks made privately in his own home - a disturbing harbinger of a 24/7 surveillance state that Mark discussed on the radio with John Gormley.
~On Wednesday Steyn considered three portents of American decline - and a bonus fourth.
~It was a more than usually idiotic week for the remorselessly shrinking Canadian censorship zealot Bernie Farber. On Thursday, Mark noted that "Israeli Apartheid Week" was Farber's gift to the world, to the point where John Kerry has embraced its toxic refrain.
~It was a week of new revelations on Benghazi that Mark chewed over on air with Hugh Hewitt. By Friday, his column on the cover-up, "The Dishonored Dead", was our most-read piece of the week.
~As for the upcoming Mann vs Steyn trial of the century, the Appeals Court decided to entertain arguments on the appeal to the Appeals Court to rule on whether the Appeals Court had the right to hear the appeal. During this interminable proceduralist flimflam, we are grateful for your continued support for Steyn's free-speech campaign.
~Mark ended the week with a look at how the world After America is showing up ahead of schedule. On Saturday, he celebrated the new eBook edition of Mark Steyn's Passing Parade in both words - with his appreciation of the late Duke of Devonshire - and music - with his audio special saluting Artie Shaw.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with our Song of the Week.
