In case you missed it, here's the last seven days as seen by Mark:
~He started the week with a 50th anniversary celebration of the showtune the Beatles sang on Ed Sullivan.
~On Monday he honored Australia's 100th Victoria Cross recipient, the late Corporal Cameron Baird, VC MG. On the military front, it was a week of individual heroism but collective retreat, as Washington announced a dramatic downsizing of US forces, prompting Steyn to recall Britain's "East of Suez" moment.
~On Tuesday, Mark celebrated Canada's Olympic hockey triumphs by recalling a curling humiliation. Also on the subject of abysmal Canadian performances, he discussed his own failure to win the Islamophobe of the Year award - and Justin Trudeau's ill-advised move into Ukrainian stand-up routines.
~Wednesday brought a strange, sudden case study of how serial litigant Michael E Mann is loathed even by those who believe in "global warming". It became something of a theme of the week, beginning with Dr Judith Curry's devastating summation, and continuing through the revelations of what his colleagues say about him in private. In between, Steve McIntyre relentlessly exposed the fake Nobel Laureate's false claims to have been "exonerated" by British and American investigations, and Australia's Andrew Bolt himself threatened to sue Dr Mann. If you'd like to help with Mark's own "legal offense fund" against Mann (he's countersuing him for $20 million), please see here.
~Speaking of suing, our most read piece of the week was Thursday's column on Governor Brewer's decision to veto the Arizona bill on religious liberty, "If I Knew You Were Suing, I'd've Baked A Cake".
~At the end of the week, Mark headed to Ottawa for a round of media appearances just ahead of his Saturday speech to Preston Manning's annual gathering of Canadian conservatives. Highlights included an impressive barrage of CBC hate mail, which he subsequently read out on the Sun News network.
~On Saturday night, just ahead of the Academy Awards, we went to the movies with a profile of Hollywood's silent star, a look at the Oscar for Best Oscar Speech, and memories of a great night for British-ish film.
A new week at SteynOnline begins tonight with a (possibly Academy-themed) Song of the Week. On Monday Mark will be in Toronto to swing by Ezra Levant's TV show, and his trial.
