~He started the week with a celebration of Shirley Temple's two signature songs, prompting one climate expert to suggest that, if only Steyn's forthcoming trial were about "Shirley Temple and Buddy Epsen[sic]" rather than science, he might have a chance.
~Monday was Presidents Day, and Mark tipped his hat to the man who was America's chief executive when Shirley was born, Calvin Coolidge. In the ongoing Mann vs Steyn case, Michael Mann's misrepresentations of his "exonerations" became something of a theme as the week wore on.
~On Tuesday, Mark addressed the blindness of the "official Jews"' over the new anti-Semitism in Europe, in what proved to be by far SteynOnline's most read piece of the week: "Hath Not a Jew Eyes?" As for the old anti-Semitism, Steyn and Hitler went mano a mano on the Aussie Hot Books list.
~Wednesday was State News Control Day, from the various UK eminences lying about a waterlogged Britain to Obama's plan to put government monitors in TV and radio newsrooms. At the University of Virginia, they sound like they'd be cool with that.
~On Thursday, Mark started the day on the radio with Steve Madely in Ottawa, just ahead of his appearance there this coming weekend, and ended it south of the border with Hugh Hewitt, discussing the violence on the streets of Kiev and Mark's decision to countersue Michael Mann for $20 million.
~On Friday, Mark considered the New Tribalism of identity-group politics and the US Government's vicious and selective targeting of an Obama critic for a $15,000 "crime".
~Mark's weekend column argued that he was a "climate insouciant" rather than a denier. And on a happier note his Saturday night movie selection was a 50th anniversary screening of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg.
