Lights Out, Kindle On

By popular demand, the new Kindle edition of my book Lights Out: Islam, Free Speech And The Twilight Of The West is available from today at Amazon. As you can tell, it's the usual apocalyptic knockabout, and is a real side-splitter for the free-speech fan in your family.

The title doesn't really need any explanation for longtime readers, but just in case, from the first page:

On August 3rd 1914, on the eve of the Great War, Sir Edward Grey, the British Foreign Secretary, stood at the window of his office in the summer dusk and observed: "The lamps are going out all over Europe." This is the book I wrote after wiggling free of the death grip of Canada's "human rights" commissions, and it reprints all the "hate crimes" of mine the Canadian Islamic Congress did their best to get banned in perpetuity. But it roams far wider than that, from America to Europe, Britain to Australia, examining multiculturalism, Islamic imperialism, civilizational self-loathing, plus, of course, giant space-lizard conspiracy theorists and the Ayatollah Khomeini's "precepts of ejaculation".

The main theme of Lights Out - the remorseless withering of free expression - is more relevant than ever as I saddle up for the Michael Mann trial - which is really an apostasy trial for those of us who dissent from the official religion of hockey-stick alarmism. I'm not sure what my royalty rate on digital downloads is, but Kindle sales from Amazon do go to support my legal defense against Dr Mann.

If you prefer, you can still buy the good old-fashioned printed edition direct from the SteynOnline bookstore, and get it personally autographed. We don't do autographed downloads here, but, if you come up to me at Preston Manning's jamboree in Ottawa at the end of the month or at another live appearance and whip out your Kindle, I promise to autograph it with the chisel I always keep handy for such moments.
