It's always fun to go away for a weekend and come back to another law suit - in this case, hockey-stick prof Michael Mann claiming I defamed him in a National Review post. We'll link here to any interesting commentary on the case as it arises, starting with this post from Watts Up With That, which I like mainly because of the plonking earnestness of the "Caped Climate Crusader" in waders clutching a hockey stick.
Here's a view from Down Under at Australian Climate Madness.
This screenshot from our old friend the Binksmeister provides an interesting glimpse of the plaintiff's attitude to admissibility. I do hope Dr Mann isn't being unduly inconvenienced by the burdens of round-the-clock comment deletion.* See also here and, with chapter and verse, here:
A tip from Michael Mann on how to handle scientific debate: Set up your email server so that it automatically rejects email from people who disagree with you
Especially if they're Canadian. Surveying the various targets of his wrath, Xanthippa asks the big question:
Is Dr Michael Mann Canuckophobic?
It may be time for a class action suit from the sinister International Canadian Conspiracy.
Meanwhile, over at Daily Kos, his supporters are urging him to follow the money:
As part of discovery in Mann v. NR and Steyn they should subpoena all records of all payments by any energy interests to Steyn or anyone else at NR.
These guys must be getting huge sums for libeling Mann and broadcasting non-stop lies.
Alas, they're not as huge as the sums Michael Mann's lawyer John B Williams got from Big Oil:
He successfully defended Mobil Oil Corporation when seven state attorneys general, as well as the FTC, challenged Mobil's Hefty degradable bag claim...
Antitrust Litigation — John represented Lukens Steel, Bethlehem Steel, and Mobil Oil Corporation in a series of bid rigging cases in the electrical construction industry...
We'll post more links as they arise.
[*Perhaps as his follow-up to "Hide The Decline", Dr Mann should sing "Hide The Delete":
Richard Reeb
yep, he deleted mine. All I posted was: "Do you really want to take on Steyn? Canada lost."]
