Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian readers and Happy Columbus Day to our American readers!
Yesterday, despite the unusual rain, there was an enormous parade in Madrid commemorating the day in 1492 when Christopher Columbus claimed the Americas for Spain. (Yesterday also marked the premiere of a new Spanish documentary that purports to prove that Columbus was not from Italy but rather was born in the western Mediterranean and was Jewish according to DNA analysis,,.)
