Hi Laura,
Welcome to your second Q&A!
I salivated at the picture of your delicious Cockroach Bolognese on Laura's Links yesterday (Thursday).
It reminded me of a trip last month to Lucerne in Switzerland where the local supermarket stocked delicious, crispy drinks snacks, in three different varieties:
+ Thai Crickets (not sure if that is the sauce or the nationality),
+ Alpine Herb Locusts and
+ Paprika Crickets
All proclaim on the packet that the snacks are high (but not in a mushroom sense) in protein, in vitamin B12 and in roughage (and who doesn't need more roughage?).
Scrumptious as these little bites are, my question is, where do YOU get the cockroaches for YOUR bolognese?
Because I bet that, properly crisped up, your roaches would probably make drinks snacks that are even more delectable than Switzerland's.

PS - But are these tasty insects Kosher? Are they slaughtered in a proper Kosher way? Or even a Halal way?
PPS - I know Mark doesn't like URLs, but you can have a glimpse at those Swiss snacks here:

Hey, Laura! I'm glad too see you doing the Q and A again. What are your thoughts on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the eerie media silence on it? While everyone else is taking their very predictable sides on the issue du jour in America, namely Biden's student loan forgiveness proclamation, the congress silently approved ever more funding to continue the war. Shouldn't a proxy war against a nuclear armed and hostile power like Russia command more discussion and attention than this?

Dear Laura,
Recently, Mark Zuckerberg informed Joe Rogan that Facebook algorithmically censored the Hunter Biden laptop story for 7 days based on a request from the FBI to restrict election "misinformation."
So we now know what we have suspected: that Big Gov and Big Biz are actively colluding to engineer election outcomes.
Big picture, where do we go from here?

Hi Laura,
Can you possibly sort out this student loan kerfuffle for us? I mean, from here it looks like a straight wealth transfer from the have-nots to the haves -- the former, of course, being everyone dumb enough to either prepare for college beforehand or try to find a way to pay for it legitimately, plus of course those rubes who didn't go to college at all, and the latter being basically those who didn't give a flying f*ck until it became obvious that they weren't playing with Monopoly money. But maybe there is some point to be made for what I at the moment see as spongers?

Hello wonderful Laura -
How do you do what you do, with respect to Laura's Links? How do you find what you find, etc? The breadth of info that you cover is simply staggering. I consider myself well read relative to most, yet I don't read 5% of what you are able to read.
Thanks for all you do!

Laura, One of your links was about the Canadian government trespassing on private land in Saskatchewan to take water samples. Why only send a letter instead of going straight into court to charge the Canadian government with trespass?

Dear Laura,
I am writing to you from the northern suburbs of nyc where the influence of Covid continues to strangle us. I just came from the kosher butcher where half the people are wearing masks and I am sad to say I feel so much negativity just being around those faceless people. I continue to hear, first hand, of young healthy people in our community hospitalized with severe illness but no one asks if it could be vaccine related. Our Jewish day school plans on continuing to hold Covid vaccine clinics this fall as if there aren't vaccines available at every drug store in every town. I'm moving my daughter into college in nyc on Sunday where she is required to be boosted and to be PCR tested every two weeks. At the same time there is also a scary quiet. No one is pushing for the fourth dose just yet. I think this is another calm before a storm. I don't think vaccine fascists are through with us yet. What do you think? What is it like in Toronto? What do you think of the stories of all those young doctors who died in Ontario in the weeks after the fourth dose became available to all?

Hello Laura,
Welcome back for another Q&A. The release of the affidavit for the Mar-A-Lago saga suggests the FBI has added "hoarding" to the list of crimes they are trying to pin on Trump. When this fails to stick, what next?
Meanwhile, now confirmed beyond reasonable doubt that the FBI buried Hunter's laptop and any investigation into Biden's corruption before the 2020 election, probably swaying its outcome. Never mind. The FBI is in hot pursuit of crimes surrounding the diary of Biden's daughter and it's sordid details. Hard to imagine a novelist concocting such a tale of a corrupt FBI. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Hey Laura,
Allegations revealed in the heavily redacted affidavit for the Trump Mar-A-Lago raid assert that the former President had possession of classified documents, blah blah blah. I ain't buying it. But even if it's true, it became a known fact that Obama's Secretary of State, Mrs. Bill Clinton, kept her government e-mails on a server in a toilet in Denver. Those e-mails included attachments that were classified documents and were open to hacking by everyone on earth with an internet connection. Where does this all end when the top cops of the world's hyper power openly lean on political opponents and shield their benefactors in power? If that was my laptop instead of Hunter Biden's, would I be a free man today?

A lowbrow comment about the BBC show, EastEnders. We're a bit behind in Canada, they're showing January episodes right now, but recently there's been a story line about "right wingers" where a character blames his father's admiration of Margaret Thatcher for his having become a radical who hates Muslims and immigration. Seriously. The upshot of the story line was that anyone who supports Conservatives and questions free for all immigration is the terrorist. This seems to be the way many story lines on tv these days are portrayed. How can anyone push back on these narratives? Does anyone even try?

Laura,
Great Guest Host of Guest Hosts. Professional Sports in America has conditioned modern fans to the concept of planned tanking. It is an organic development of the draft systems in which a season's worst team gets to pick first from the crop of young amateurs to be chosen the following season. This mentality has metastasized into business and politics, I suspect. I'm curious if you have observed this. Planned incompetence, or mediocratic control seems to be either an attempt by the inept to do what they do best, or a consequence of the Peter Principle.
So many people excuse the failures of government as stupidity, when I see orchestrated Evil. In your opinion, which is it?
