Speaking as a Brit expat, what contrasts and parallels can you draw between the US and UK political scenes, particularly with respect to COVID

Hi Mark,
Is there any truth to the rumor that Corn Pop is behind the rash of "F--- Joe Biden!" chants popping up at sporting events and other gatherings across the country? An unfortunate television reporter thought NASCAR fans were chanting "Let's Go Brandon" instead of the obscene.
I am not a huge fan of using foul language to express political views. However, watching this organic change drive the left and the media crazy is fun to to watch. How long before AG Garland turns the FBI loose on these "domestic terrorists"?
Your website is an oasis of sanity these days.
Thanks so much,

Mark,
Wilhelm Zaisser Garland says I, a tax paying citizen, cannot attend a school board meeting to debate and discuss various policies being implemented but an illegal immigrant with a camera phone can target, chase and harrass a sitting United States Senator in a restroom while shamelessly recording the incident. The even more shameful reaction or non-reaction by the media, elected officials and about half the population of the U.S. to this gross incivility was underscored by the moronic statement made by the President when asked about it. From a societal point of view what is this episode reflective of? Do we now have a permanent lack of middle ground? Thirty years ago an incident like this in addition to what the Attorney General is attempting to do would have been shocking to everyone both left and right except for the most extremist, anarchistic leftists. Today not so much.

Hi Mark, did you see that the Canadian mammy singer is forbidding the un-vaccinated to be on Canadian trains, buses planes or airplanes? How will this be enforceable? It cannot be constitutional, and how would this work with dual citizens and international airlines operating in Canada? It's all so depressing and reminiscent of China and the USSR.

Mark - kicking around, probably a bad idea, on a way to push back on the left's CRT insanity. How about instead of the high road trying their game of claiming to be the victim? Something like "Christian faith, which by the way was the driving force behind ending the Democrat party's slavery, compels me to judge people as individuals and not as groups so CRT is trampling on my rights as a Christian"

Mark, you've been the "Western civilization is dying" guy for going on 20 years now. As you noted yesterday by quoting Jesse Kelly on the same topic you are no longer on the fringe of mainstream belief. I read America Alone when it was first released and agreed with you at the time that if we didn't start taking the demographic breakdown of the western world serious we were doomed, but I didn't think it would come this quickly, i.e. before I hit 40.
Now that the cruise ships are anchored just off the shores of the Rio Grande, and the leftists are doing their best to immanentize the eschaton, I'm curious to hear if you think it's time to split up the union. I'm particularly curious to hear you place our current situation in a proper historical context, i.e. is it as bad as it was for Lincoln in 1861, the Fathers in 1775, etc.? If it is time to split the union what would it take to do so?

Hi Mark,
I'm back again in the club, now for a full year. Your soft spot for my country and Scandinavia - or more to the point, critically soft spot - drew me back to where I belong. Like another prodigal son gone astray. I want to make a comment in this Q and A session, so couldn't you just turn my comment into a proper question? Denmark is a constitutional monarchy and the royal family is very popular. But the crownprince couple are going woke, I'm afraid, reminiscent of Harry and Meghan. Lately they handed down a culture prize to a bunch of daring artists who in 2002 made themselves famous setting up a big signpost pleading: " Foreigners, please don't leave us alone with the Danes" as their answer to their fellow countrymen to a heated debate running. Or what about this one, "Rebranding Denmark" , an animated burning of our flag, the Dannebrog, after the Muhammed cartoons had set Danish embassies ablaze (2006). Our dear crownprincess has made herself protector of Pride parades 2020 and 2021 kicking in open doors under the Rainbowflag. They should know better, and have better advice! They should be a stone in the stream- not floating down with the spirit of the time! They should be called to order to represent tradition and the flag, i.e. our country - our alternative media do reprimand them these days. Some people say, Eric Bloodaxe rules ok, others want a president. What do you think of this modern monarchy, Mark Steyn?

Since the Constitution is no longer being paid any attention to, legal-wise, do you think the crooks in government will bother to try to replace it with another document? Also, why are the "trespassers" from the Jan 6 protest still being held in solitary? Why has no big shot law outfit stepped up to get them out? At least half the country would love those lawyers. Where is the Republican power structure? What are they afraid of?

Hey Mark, have you gotten your trillion dollar coin yet? I'm planning to donate a trillion t shirt from China to the US Treasury to help out as well. As a side bonus, it should cover Joe's planned and unplanned tax hikes, for a few years anyway. Every day, progressive elites sink a little lower - last week it was "these bills are free, they're paid for", this week it's "mint the coin". My question is, what is next? I keep thinking they can't get worse, and they keep proving me wrong...
Keep up the great work, love the club and your thoughts.

Greetings Mark. Finally someone serious on the airwaves. In December 2019 Australia began negotiations with China to exchange Chinese renminbi for Aussi dollars. Though 2020 Vietnam & South Korea began to follow suit trying to avoid US dollars. With Jim crow Joe treating European allies like American parents I notice France and Germany dispatching finance ministers to Beijing.
I wonder if other countries are fed up enough to pull the reserve currency rug out from under the US. Can you imagine if the hacks at the politboro on the Potomac had to live within our means. No more trillions here and trillions there.
Thanks

What do you think would be the result of China annexing Taiwan? Economically speaking. People who live on the island of Taiwan are 95% Han Chinese just as are the people who live on the mainland. Maybe instead of 90% of everything being made in China, and 5% made in Taiwan, China can then claim to make 95% of everything.

Hopefully not too late to ask. I remember pictures of US senators cowering in terror on the floor of the Senate chamber during the Jan 6 insurrection. I was disappointed since I've naively presumed that the occupants of the Capitol are made of sterner stuff than a primary school classroom. I'm almost certain that there was no cowering on the floor when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the Ayatollah invaded the US Embassy, or the Pentagon was attacked on 9/11. Could it be that the leftist media is correct, and that the real terrorists are, in fact, naked men in painted faces and Viking helmets?

Dear Mark - I saw a fabulous broadway show last night called, "The Lehman Trilogy." The cast is only three men and two of three actors were superb! One of the techniques of the show is that the actors slip in and out of different roles. A middle aged actor playing, for the most part, a middle aged man and then going in and out of roles where he plays a son, an old rabbi, or different women. It was both funny and incredible to watch such talented acting. The three hour show flew by. The third brother was acted by a black actor. He was thoroughly mediocre. His range of roles was significantly less than the white actors. I'm not sure if it's because he was miscast, is a mediocre actor or if they dumbed down his role because you aren't supposed to find it funny that a 19th century Jewish immigrant store owner in Alabama is black so how can he slip in and out of other roles that are supposed to make you laugh? At the end of the show the entire audience, except for me, gave a standing ovation to all three actors. My husband didn't want to hear my critique. He wanted to bask in the pleasure of seeing a great show - I understand that. Great shows are not common. So my question is, is racist casting (his two understudies are black. So much for color blind casting.) an important issue? Do we need to keep talking about these things? I don't like to be nag or constantly talking about the same things but I can't help feeling that the politicizing of of art is a serious and important issue. Or maybe politics have always been a part of art and I am just naive?
