Hey Mark, just a philosophical question here. What sort of ego does it take to have such a belief in yourself that you seek to rule people by force (or threat of incarceration and / or violence), that utterly don't want it? I can cite not just HK, but also large parts of the US. To that last part, I personally don't believe the US is worth keeping together as a union, even if that means handing over the top GDP spot to the PRC. Thanks!

As today is Yom Kippur I will be asking G-d's forgiveness for my sins. Might it be a good idea to have a national holiday for which our elite can atone for their sins? I know one day would not be enough, but it would be a start. Of course that would open the possibility that they would seek their forgiveness from what they perceive as a higher power... the Chines Communist Party.

Mark, I enjoyed hearing the story behind the most recent Song of the Week, the grand and beautiful "God Bless America," and was moved by Irving Berlin's love for his adopted land. But, I found myself conjuring images, not of America extending "from the mountains to the prairies to the oceans white with foam," but rather of an America on the ocean white with foam. And, rather than hearing "God Bless America," the sound of "Nearer My God To Thee" was forcing its way into my mind. Maybe not so much a question as the thought that these are pretty sad times. Still hopeful that we can right the ship, but not confident as to how.

Hi Mark,
What do you make of the fact that Australia has torn the large submarine contract it had signed with France and switched to American submarines? This may be seen as a victory for the US military industry and US jobs, but it comes at the cost of really angering the French off! This comes just 1 month after angering all its NATO partners by leaving Afghanistan without coordination. And since France is one of the few Western armies that is still able to fight wars (see Mali), why screw one of your closest ally (especially with a friendly Macron as president). The French foreign minister is so upset, that he said that breaking the contract is something that looks like something Trump would do! (Being compared to Trump shows how low Biden is now perceived). A signed contract used to have the force of law and mean something in the English world... This is a complete disregard for contracts and partners. And I'm not saying this as a French anti-American. I'm pro-America and am with you 99% of the time. But now I'm living in Taiwan, and I have the feeling it won't be long until Biden's America will screw me, for good maybe.

Hi Mark - love the Club, and thank you for being a voice of sanity in a world gone mad!
Like you and probably everyone here, I loathe the permanent election cycle. Right now, there are races all across the country where multiple people have already declared their candidacy for November 2022. In my House district of NH-1, I believe there are six GOP challengers already lined up to face the incumbent Democrat. My question: how are we ever going to move away from this, from politics as a profession, the constant media attention and fundraising machine? There may be excellent candidates out there, but if they do not have any money and only begin campaigning a month before the primary, aren't they dead on arrival?
All of your efforts are appreciated! Thank you!

Mark, do our media members have any self respect or are they so partisan that they'll let the whole world burn just because their guy happens to be in the White House? Anyone of the events that have gone down the past month would have resulted in wall to wall calls for resignation had they occurred during a Republican administration, but for Joe Biden it's two weeks of tepid coverage and down the memory hole it goes.
How can a democracy work if public doesn't receive the information it needs to demand our leaders change course? It seems like narrative is more important than truth, even if the narrative is leading our country into a crash.

I don't know about you but the tried and true formula for success for the GOP isn't going to win us any elections. Spreading the word and sending money to SENDMONEYNOW.COM isn't going to cut it anymore. Combined with the constant barrage of stories leading up to the California recall that there was going to be a change and in the end, nothing did change, not only don't I see the GOP doing anything about it, I personally think they all but checked out. What chance do we have in winning in any election that results in winning the presidency or are we stuck with our local representatives who imply they will fight for us when in the end they don't? Your thoughts Mark.

I chanced upon an article this morning discussing how HBO capitulated to the woke mob and took Gone With the Wind out of its catalogue a while back. This prompted two thoughts:
1) can you please give us a "Mammy!" for old times sake?
2) I'm starting to sense the woke mob is losing its grip on power. People are realizing Twitter is not real life, and further- if everyone and everything is racist and bigoted- then no one and nothing is.
Thoughts?

20 years ago I was on a tour in Paris when someone asked what the cock (i.e., rooster) was such a prominent symbol in art and sculpture. The guide said it was because the French were a fighters and that was the country's long history. The others in my group snickered. Since I hadn't snickered, the guide later asked me what the laughing was all about. I told her that since the French gave up so easily in WWII that Americans thought of the French as soft. I didn't laugh because (1) I knew it wasn't true that the French were pushovers, and (2) America may one day be in the same boat. And lo and behold, here we are. Take at look at Kabul and our messy exit.

Hi Mark,
Someone at another blog commented last night that Gen. Milley's phone calls to Li aren't treasonous b/c China is not actually an "enemy" until we start a war with it. Does this mean that any attempt to back-door warn another country of an impending attack is definitionally not treasonous, given that the warning precedes the attack? I am trying to apply this to (say) the Cuban Missile Crisis, and it seems to me like the definition of that Constitutional suicide pact we're always hearing about.

I'm not a golfer, and I don't play one on TV, but I read an article this morning about golf being banned in Victoria (200 days over the past 18 months). Now, there's a proposal that only vaccinated people be allowed to play golf. Presumably, that includes putt-putt. The proposal has come from James Sutherland, the man in charge of Golf Australia. I'd call him "that fella from down under," but I took the time to learn his name. No joke. What do you think?
I get a flu vaccination every year because I believe it will lesson the effect on me if I do catch the flu. I don't get it to protect other people. By contrast, it seems that the COVID vaccine is being pushed to protect people who are already vaccinated. Why, do you think, the difference? A woman whose vaccinated husband recently died from COVID is blaming his death on millions of unvaccinated people.

I had never heard of her but I admire her gumption. Do you listen to rap? Do you recommend it? A serious question that admittedly reeks of desperation.

My question is as follows. As there are only four PROVEN causes of the break down of our physicality (dis-ease or ill-ness, as you will), and they are dehydration, starvation, trauma, and toxins. Then, sir, why do we think that we can succumb to a fifth UNPROVEN cause i.e. the whatchamacallit?? It is really very simple to grasp.
My second question is why don't you want to talk about it?

This is bit late for a question, but the radio "fake news" this morning implied that Gen. TMM is actually a hero no matter what he did because he refused to sic the military on BLM "peaceful protesters" after Trump demanded. Does this mean the narrative will now be that no matter what treason took place, that DJT was at fault? Everyone walks, of course.
