In case you missed it, here's how New Year week looked to Mark:
~The se'nnight began with Steyn saluting some of the songwriters we lost in 2020, from jazz to rock to country, film to theatre to television, including "the stupidest song ever written".
~On Monday Mark began a week of guest-hosting with a stint in the anchor's chair at Tucker Carlson Tonight. This was his opening monologue:
Afterwards came the latest developments on the lockdown, Covid science, cancel culture and more. Monday's show was the Number One cable news show of the day, and Number Three in all cable.
~Tuesday's Tucker started with Steyn's monologue on a Georgia senate huckster. Click below to watch:
Afterwards came Big Tech's tightening grip, Covid-19 gun fatalities and much more. Like Monday's edition, Tuesday's was the Number One cable news show of the day, and Number Three in all cable. The President of the United States enjoyed it.
~On Wednesday the last Tucker Carlson Tonight of 2020 began with Mark looking back at a most trying year: you can see that monologue in full here. There followed vaccine priorities, lockdown hypocrisy, dying Democrat cities ...and the strange fashion among bigshots for having entirely fraudulent identities:
Also on Wednesday Laura's Links rounded up the Internet from Wokestapo pushback to unmasking mask politics.
~After the Number One cable news show, Mark started New Year's Eve on America's Number One radio show. A look back at 2020 and a look forward to 2021 were his focus. Click below to listen:
As the countdown to 2021 began, Steyn offered a special live-performance edition of our Song for the Season: Mark, acclaimed vocalist Carol Welsman and top guitarist Russell Malone with the Steyn Show band on "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?"
Our live music performances are made possible through The Mark Steyn Club. For more on the Steyn Club, see here.
~On New Year's Day, as is traditional, Mark bade farewell to some of those we lost in the last twelve months.
~On Saturday Steyn covered for Kathy Shaidle on the movie beat and noted that we are now living in the time of Children of Men.
Later he presented the first part of a New Year weekend special with Oscar-winning songwriter Don Black discussing his bestselling memoir The Sanest Guy in the Room. Part Two airs tonight.
