It's always fun to start the day with the great John Oakley on Toronto's AM640. Today we discussed the aftermath of the Iowa caucus, including Hillary running the quarters in the constitutionally mandated Presidential Coin Toss, and Ted Cruz's brilliant comic timing when introducing me at the US Senate.
We also discussed climate know-nothing David Suzuki's latest call for those who disagree with him to be "thrown in jail". Even by the standards of the climate mullahs, Suzuki routinely calls for persons to be "thrown in jail" for having a different opinion to his. I wrote about it in 2009:
Last year, David Suzuki suggested that denialist politicians should be thrown in jail. And only last month the New York Times's Great Thinker Thomas Friedman channelled his inner Walter Duranty and decided that democracy has f*cked up the planet. Why, in Beijing, where they don't have that disadvantage, they banned the environmentally destructive plastic bag! In one day! Just like that! "One-party autocracy certainly has its drawbacks," wrote Friedman. "But when it is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people, as China is today, it can also have great advantages. That one party can just impose the politically difficult but critically important policies needed to move a society forward in the 21st century."
The warm-mongers barely bother to disguise their panting for totalitarianism. To hear what John and I had to say about climate, free speech, Iowa and more, simply click below:
~As for a certain cat album that John was kind enough to mention, it's called Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats, and, as he said, it's got a four-and-a-half star rating at iTunes. Lots of great five-star reviews (plus a couple of one-stars) at Amazon:
'Steyn has a real winner with "Feline Groovy"!
This is a very good disc. Mark and his crew have done a great job of arranging and performing these feline themed tunes. I found these renditions more enjoyable than many of the original hits.
We've had a lot of queries about the track John played at the top of the segment. It's called "She Only Talks That Way To The Cat", and ain't that the truth. The latest shipment of Feline Groovy CDs is hot off the press and available now, but if you can't wait for the mailman it can be yours in seconds via digital download from Amazon or iTunes.
~I mentioned David Suzuki making a complete fool of himself on national TV in Australia. More on that from the indispensable Joanne Nova. The show, of course, was "Q & A" and I hope to be swinging by to spend a few moments with our old pal Tony Jones when I'm down in Oz in a couple of weeks. My nationwide tour of Australia kicks off on February 14th live in Perth, which will be the perfect Valensteyn's treat for your loved one. Most dates are already sold out, but there are still a few seats left for the final night in Sydney and for my stage debut in, er, Cloncurry. They're going fast, though, so don't leave it too late. For tickets and more, see here. If you'd like to be put on the waiting list for Perth, Brisbane, Canberra or the big gala beano in Melbourne, please email Rachel at the IPA here.
